Xiang Luo Wan
Tianjin, China

Xiang Luo Wan is a rapidly developing district near Tianjin, China, the original port of Beijing. This 200,000 m2 mixed use project is conceived as both an integral part of a larger new city and as a self-sufficient urban fragment, programmed for a variety of functions to promote 24-hour use.

Due to changing zoning constraints, the project evolved from thin perpendicular slabs set on top of a podium to a pair of cubic towers engaged into a horizontal bar at the base. These three main elements are deployed to take advantage of various site conditions at each elevation.
