System Diagram
1. Field of sensors: located at strategic points throughout Nagoya City; collect statistical data about different types of urban activity (e.g. movement of people, frequency of exchange, usage of resources, etc.)
2. Data processor: maps the data and converts it to electronic signals which activate the components.
3. Transformer: sends electrical charge to the electrodes.
4. Gas storage: contains a number of gasses which are mixed into a “cocktail” within the ellipsoid.
5. Electrodes: produce an electrical charge which excites the gas within the ellipsoid.
6. Ellipsoid membrane: translucent fabric supported by the pressurized gas.
7. Pressurized gas: glows when charged by the electrodes in colors determined by the mixture of gasses.
8. Concrete plate: observation platform and visitors information at water level.
9. Water: creates a reflecting field from which the ellipsoid emerges.
10. Path: provides access for visitors from the rest area above.
