NEIGHBORHOOD INTERSECTIONS
Neighborhood Intersections, located at intervals within a reasonable walking distance from the surrounding communities, will encourage pedestrian activity and become focal points linking the Concourse to the adjacent neighborhoods.
These intersections will typically be located at the existing grade-separated street crossings, most of which already have subway, express and cross-town bus stops. Taxi and private car or bus service stands will also be provided, along with secure bicycle storage, thereby reinforcing intermodal transportation at these intersections.
These corner sites will be re-zoned to allow for the establishment of street-level commercial activity, creating a multi-purpose destination for residents of the community.
Green islands equipped with benches will be built on the widened overpasses to maintain the continuity of the experience of the Concourse as a linear park.
