Preliminary scheme with perpendicular slabs set on top of a podium. The slipped slab contains offices, and the taller tower hotel and residential units.
A rich sequence of spaces unfolds from public to private. The primary entrance to the towers is from the south, adjacent to a public square with fountains foregrounding the buildings.
The four-story base forms a bridge over the road and acts as a gateway between the public square and the park. The base also creates a street wall defining the southern boundary of the park and negotiates the change in level from the ground plane to the podium overlooking the river.
The towers make an impact at a different scale and are treated accordingly. The tower shafts are clad in a relatively neutral skin; the constantly changing patterns on their upper portions create variety within the overall simplicity of the cubic volumes. The upper levels of both towers contain public functions and are illuminated at night.

The base is comprised of three sub-grade levels containing parking, goods delivery and hotel service areas, and the four above-grade levels are occupied by various public functions - restaurants, shops, a conference center, and a health club. A large glass-enclosed hall serves both as a grand entrance to the hotel and as an organizing space for the adjacent functions.
The base forms a bridge across the road, establishing a continuity of activities between the two sites and providing direct access to both towers. The volume of the base is enveloped by a red glass screen; its roof is developed as a garden offering pleasant views.
